WGSN’s interesting - and obviously educated and valuable - take on the trends we are going to see, and through their prediction, wear this upcoming Fall 2012/13.

Regaling in the Regal Royals
First, Prince William and Kate Middleton stole our hearts as they explored our great country (I live in Canada by the way), now we have the pleasure of welcoming Prince Albert and Princess Charlene for the previewing of the Grace Kelly exhibit at The Bell TIFF Lightbox. Catch a glimpse of the actress then turned princess’s life, from the couture, to her famous handbag, to home videos filmed from the style icon herself. The epitome of class and a great example of elegance, Grace Kelly’s exhibit held from November 4, 2011 to January 22, 2012 should be a must on your agenda.
Cooperative Corduroy Gumsole Bootie
A bootie aptly named after its cooperation with your foot’s need for comfort and beauty all in one sole.
Someone once told me that ideas float around in the universe and those who seize the moment seize the idea. She said this in reply to my complaining that Marc Jacobs showcased one of my dresses. Four years ago, when I sent in designs with my application to a design school, the stand out garment was a particular summer dress. Maybe two seasons ago, I saw that exact dress in a Marc Jacobs line up. My jaw dropped. No I am not claiming that my design was stolen. My goodness, Mr. Jacobs’s imagination does not need thievery. What I am saying is that there is truth to what my friend said. I never took the dress from sketch to 3D, so there the idea remained, floating. To my discontent, it has happened again. Jessica Biel wore a stunning Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown to FGI’s 28th Annual Night of Stars. That dress is sketched out in my portfolio, and there it shall remain. Valli does it like no other so there is no sense in a fashion nobody (not to be too self depracating) attempting fashion greatness. I am no match. So let’s just sit and stare at the elegance of the gown and the exquisiteness that it exudes.
If you’re in that dire need of a keychain that you would pay $135 for one, then this is most definitely your hot item. The designers behind Proenza Schouler retail their new leather keychains shaped as their adorable dogs for the above mentioned price. I would much prefer to put the money towards a key for a car or new house that can then be placed on a key chain than spend it on just the key chain itself. But to each his own. And really, if you’re going to spend that kind of money on a trinket, it may as well be of a dog’s head.

NOTABLE ACTION CON'T: Live Talent
Watch Jessica Gorlicky paint away at a live event here in Toronto. Raw Talent. One portrait after another. Every time she erases her board, she is only cementing her talent further.
NOTABLE ACTION: Take Your Dream and Fly With It !
When you can almost taste the creator’s dedication, passion, and love for their art through an article, you too almost want to wet your palate so you can taste a little more of what is running through the artist’s veins. Jessica Gorlicky has managed to do that. All it took was one article on The Notable for me to want to throw down the cash to get one of her paintings and proudly mount it absolutely anywhere in my home.

I have this weird fascination with Victoria Beckham but that most certainly won’t cloud my judgment on her latest collection. It was the most boring thing I’ve seen as of yet. I know she is no Alexander McQueen, but the creativity didn’t stand out, it didn’t feel contrite, but felt more forced, as in “I need to put together a collection so let’s just sketch whatever”. Her designs are already very predictable, but she missed the fashion boat entirely with this collection. It’s more of a NRTW Spring 2012 (Not Ready To Wear). I know. Bad joke.
